Lough Beltra is 2.5 miles long by 1 mile wide and has to be one of the most beautiful Loughs in Ireland, with its seven islands surrounded by scenic mountains and small farms. The Spring Salmon run from March until June is followed by the Grilse and Seatrout making their way into the lough from late May through June and July. Beltra also receives a run of larger harvest salmon in September. Lough Beltra probably produces the largest average size of Spring Salmon of any lough in the west of Ireland with fish of up to 20-25lbs a possibility.
